Summer festivals and holidays in Armenia

So, you have already planned a trip to Armenia in summer. What you need to do is to write down all the summer festivals and be sure to visit them.

On the 16th of May,Armenians celebrate Tolma festival in Sardarapat. During the festival, you will have a chance to try national dishes among which the main place is occupied by tolma – delicious local dish prepared from minced meat and grape leaves. The ritual is accompanied by jolly songs and dances.

The most popular folk festival is the festival of khorovats (translated from Armenian – barbecue), which is held in Akhtala. It's just crazy fun, where guests are offered more than 40 types of BBQ. And,of course,no Armenian festival is held without music and dances.

For vegetarians,we offer to visit the festival of honey and mulberries in Goris. During the festival, you can taste delicious mulberry and other fruits and berries. The most interesting part of the festival is ahead; you will have the opportunity to participate in the production of the famous mulberry vodka. Mulberry vodka is known for its medicinal properties, but be careful: the strength of this drink can be compared with rum or tequila.

In mid-August,the festival of carpet is held in Dilijan which presents the best handmade rugs that can be purchased during the event.

At the beginning of June, the festival of "sheep shearing" is held in Syunik region. It is some kind of reality show that organizes the competition for sheep shearing. The most exciting part of the process is that the sheep are sheared with old scissors which pass from generation to generation.
